Courses can be in progress or planned when you apply, but any coursework needed for minimum transfer requirements must be completed by the end of the Spring semester before fall entrance. Summer Session grades are posted too late to confirm completion.

A quarter unit is worth 2/3 of a semester unit based on the weeks spent in classes, 12 weeks for quarters vs 15 weeks for semesters: 12/15 = 2/3. For example, a 5 quarter-unit course yields 3.33 semester units.

Classes will be scheduled weekday evenings and Saturdays to accommodate the needs of busy adults. Although, the majority of our business courses are held during weeknights.

The cost is $435/unit; you pay only for the units you take in a given semester. A full-time student with 12 units will pay $5,220 in a semester; a part-time student taking 8 units will pay $3,480. *Costs are subject to change.

We suggest applying for financial aid as soon as possible, even before applying to the program. The FAFSA application opens on October 1 with a priority deadline of March 2 each year for the following Fall. You will need your tax return for the previous year to complete the application. Time to complete depends on how many units you can take at a time. If you can take 12 units per semester, and take some Summer coursework, it will take roughly 2 years. If you can only take 8 units in a semester, it will take about 6 semesters, or 3 years, to complete your requirements.

The major consists of 48 upper-division units: 28 units of core courses; 12 units of Management Concentration coursework; and 8 units of electives to be chosen by program faculty, for a total of twelve 4-unit courses in the major. Program courses are outlined on our Curriculum page.

The Business Degree Completion program at North Bay Community Colleges offers a concentration in Management. If you wish to pursue any of the other Concentrations (Marketing, Accounting, Finance, Financial Management, Wine Business Strategies, or your own custom concentration), you may apply to the campus-based program according to prescribed deadlines.

Business department faculty can review previous upper-division coursework and make a determination about whether credit can be given toward program requirements. Please keep in mind at least one-half of the (Business) courses, including a minimum of three courses in the concentration, must be completed at SSU.

The CSU requires students to take 9 units of upper-division general education in areas B, C, and D after reaching Junior status (60 semester units). As part of your curriculum, faculty will choose courses on the approved list. Such courses may also be taken during Summer or Winter Intersession at SSU.

You must complete 120 units in order to graduate, and fulfill all general education requirements. This means that you will need to add units above and beyond the B.S. Business program. Your Advisor can help you select classes to take care of any remaining lower-division general education requirements, or to find electives that may help you prepare for a career or further study.

This program will prepare students for careers in a variety of settings. Students may use the SSU Career Center or visit the Career Center at a local community college. They may also participate in job fairs and online job boards. The program may also offer career-focused workshops from time to time.
