Mindfulness and Self Care Pop-Up Classes


Join us as we host our Mindfulness and Self Care “Pop-Up" drop in class with SSU Philosophy professor, Dr. Andy Wallace.  Please register using the link provided below.

During each 30-minute virtual session, Dr. Wallace will provide you with a short discussion about mindfulness and kindness and facilitate fun, and nurturing mindfulness-based practices. Numerous empirical studies show that strengthening mindfulness can reduce stress and negative thinking, increase resiliency and optimism, and awaken qualities of peace, tranquility and kindness.

Compassion Cultivation Training

Andy Wallace is a professor in the Department of Philosophy at Sonoma State University.  He has studied and practiced mindfulness meditation and mindfulness-based practices for over twenty years.  Andy completed the training in mindfulness facilitation program at the Mindful Awareness Research Center at U.C.L.A.  Andy also is a certified compassion cultivation training instructor, a program that research psychologists and contemplative scholars developed at Stanford University.  Andy’s approach to mindfulness is trauma-sensitive and informed by recent research in positive psychology and affective neuroscience.
